Community Engagement

Communities' knowledge of their local landscapes and places is deep and detailed. People also highly value their landscapes for the quality of life that they give. Our work guides and harnesses local peoples' knowledge of their landscape and surroundings so it can be decided collectively what is important and what is not. This helps to make the right decisions for a given landscape or place with full public participation and support.

Our projects have been varied, both in rural and urban areas. For example, Local Landscapes/Tirlun Lleol was a project to empower people to assess their local landscape/place for themselves  in a structured and useful way. Though designed primarily for Monmouthshire, it remains a great resource for anyone who is motivated and  independently minded.

Food, people and place helped people explore the relationship between their local landscape and food production.
