Wind Energy TAN8 Strategic Search Area Studies
Clients: Carried out with Arup for the Councils of Powys, Denbighshire, Ceredigion, Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Carmarthenshiret
Within each of the Strategic Search Areas defined by the background study the practice acted as the landscape sub-consultant working with Arup. The team developed a cost effective method to assess the landscape capacity of areas to strategic scale windfarm development and their respective visibility to sensitive receptors.These were carried out defining where wind turbines would be most acceptable using a ranking method.
The studies for all 7 of Wales SSA’s have been used to inform planning decisions and in some they have been developed as the basis for supplementary planning guidance.
