Shrewsbury Energy from Waste Facility
Client: Shropshire Council
Expert witness for the Council covering landscape and visual matters at an appeal for an energy from waste facility on the northern edge of Shrewsbury close to the site of the 1403 Battle of Shrewsbury. Key issues were the effects of the large building and chimney stack on the battlefield and its associated visitors as well on the wider countryside. A detailed analysis of tree growth rates was carried out for both existing and proposed vegetation to establish the likely effectiveness of screening. Photomontages were also an issue under scrutiny with best practice being promoted by the team.
A landscape statement of common ground was prepared for the two other witnesses to agree.
