Defining Seascape Character Units for England

The regional seascape units for England were defined based on best practice guidance and from experience in Wales, taking on lessons learned. The extents of units along the coast were identified using desk study information. The units lie generally within national seascape units which are coastal management units and cells. The extents of units tend to be major headlands, changes in direction in the coast and respond to character where required.
